NYE-lo-wise · the Nile, made wise

A planner for university students that brings your classes, Canvas deadlines, exams and study time into one plan, and helps you decide what to do next.

What the name means

Nilo is the Nile and wise is what a good plan makes you. Put together, NiloWise means the Nile, made wise: planning with the same sense of rhythm that the river taught Egypt.

Ancient Egyptians set their year by the Nile. Every summer the river flooded, and they counted the days between floods. That counting gave Egypt one of the world's earliest 365-day calendars: twelve months of thirty days, plus five extra days at the end of the year.

The year had three seasons, each named for what the river was doing: Akhet, the flood; Peret, the growing season; and Shemu, the harvest. The new year was marked when the star Sirius rose again at dawn, just before the flood arrived.

A semester has seasons too: the calm first weeks, the rush of midterms, the finals harvest. NiloWise is built around that idea of seeing the whole season ahead and planning each day to match it.

The history

NiloWise started in 2026 as Plan Hub, a planner Adham built for himself at the American University in Cairo. It pulled in his class schedule, Canvas deadlines and exam dates, then planned his study time around them. Friends asked to use it, so it grew into a site anyone can sign up for, and in October 2026 it got a name of its own: one rooted in Egypt, where it was made.

Why I made it

Between engineering classes, TA work, running the Robotics Club, campus tours and mentoring freshmen, my week never fit in one app. Deadlines lived in Canvas, classes in Banner, meetings in my calendar and the plan for the day in my head. I wanted one place that knew all of it and could tell me what to work on right now, so I built it. NiloWise is that planner, made for every student with a week like mine.

Who I am

I'm Adham Mohamed Younes, a third-year Electronics and Communications Engineering student at the American University in Cairo (class of 2029), with a minor in Business Administration. I'm president of the AUC Robotics Club, a teaching assistant for Intro to Business at the Onsi Sawiris School of Business, an AUC Student Ambassador, a First Year Experience moderator and a co-founder of the Urbanists Club.

I love the place where hardware and software meet, which is how I ended up building robots and, now, a planner. I design and build NiloWise myself, and I use it every day.
